What on Earth am I here for?
I feel that this is just as good of a place as any to begin. This is the same first entry as Rick Warren's book...
WHAT ON EARTH AM I HERE FOR?
From time to time I will add various verses, etc. that fit the subject of each post... Every time that we read Scripture we pick out something new... a new word, a different perspective, or actually get the complete picture for the first time. As Pastor Chris says, "The Word never returns void." I agree. There is always something that we can learn, not only from reading the Word, but also from revisiting it and mediating on it.
I will never pretend to be a Biblical Scholar... on the contrary, I am a fairly new Christian (April 2003). I work with Youth, and have take MasterLife, and am involved in training to lead small groups. I like to post things online for myself and others to read, and being a visual learner, I retain things better by seeing them.
The situations that are going on in our lives will change how we see things and how we respond to God's Word. Where we are in our Walk with the Lord will inevitably shape our perceptions, our beliefs, and our behaviors.
WHAT ON EARTH AM I HERE FOR?
A life devoted to things is a dead life, a stump;
a God-shaped life is a gourishing tree.
Proverbs 11:28 (Msg)
Blessed are those who trust in the Lord...
They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water.
Such tres are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought.
Their leaves stay green, and they go right on producing delicious fruit.
Jeremiah 17:7-8 (NLT)
